About Sharon

Escape poverty forever. You really can.

People who’ve never lived paycheck-to-paycheck with no savings, stuck in dead end jobs, struggling (and sometimes not able) to afford basic living expenses don’t understand that life. They can’t.

They think all a poor person has to do is make better life choices. They don’t know that poor people make better life choices all the damned time.

They don’t know how hard poor people work to improve their lives – only to have ONE thing go wrong and destroy all the progress they’ve made.

They don’t know the cycle below repeats itself over and over;

  • work your ass off
  • do without every necessity you possibly can
  • sacrifice sleep, time with family, time with friends
  • finally be able to – and do – make an improvement in your situation
  • something bad happens – maybe
    • you get sick: or
    • your car breaks down: or
    • your babysitter quits without notice: or
    • you accidentally overdraw your bank account and the fees snowball because you don’t have money to pay them right away
  • lose your job because whatever bad thing happened made you miss work
  • start over, worse off than you were before you started

I created Skinny Wallet Fat Wallet because I DO understand and I am determined to teach as many people as possible how to escape poverty forever.

I was one of the working poor for decades.

Having spent most of my adult life in it, I know all about the poverty trap and the vicious cycle of poverty. I know what it’s like to be stuck in a dead-end job with no degree, and no certifications.

When you’re stuck in a dead-end job, you’re desperate to make more money, to have a better life, to do more for those you love – but all your time and energy is spent meeting the demands of the company (or companies) you work for. You don’t dare complain, no matter how badly your employers treat you, because having almost any job is better than having no job.

I know how tough getting out of the poverty cycle is.

I know how easy it is to be poor, even in America. I know how hard it is to escape poverty, how easy it is to get sucked back into it, and the near-impossibility of clawing your way out of poverty for good.

I know the challenges. I know the struggles. I know the barriers to overcoming poverty.

I know the soul-crushing disappointment of “opportunities” that don’t work out.

I know the desperation of seizing an opportunity, praying this will be the thing that finally breaks poverty’s stranglehold on you – only to find out it was bullsh**, or something you couldn’t afford to keep doing. Most times, “opportunities” leave you worse off than you were before.

I also, finally, know how to break the vicious cycle of poverty.

Having finally done it, I know how to break the vicious cycle of poverty once and for all.

I was lied to by employers, and society in general. You’ve been lied to too. You can’t dig yourself out of poverty. You must PULL yourself out of poverty.

How to pull yourself out of poverty

Intuitively, you’ve known for years, how to permanently escape poverty . You’ve probably tried it, and failed, at least once.

The solution to getting out of the poverty cycle forever is to start your own business: to work for yourself, in your own little business, so you can be your own boss.

What might surprise you is that it really and truly IS possible, probably even for you.

Pull yourself out of poverty with your own online business.

The working poor don’t usually have enough time or money to start a business in “the real world”. But an online business? That’s possible for a whole lot of the working poor.

An online business is what I recommend and what – here on Skinny Wallet Fat Wallet – I teach people to build.

Once I get all the lessons and information published, I believe they will (easily) equal what you could learn in a full year of college business classes.

All the lessons here are free. I don’t make you sign up to get any of them and you don’t have to give me your email address to get them.

You can build an online business.

You can build your own online business, even if you don’t know how to build a website right now. (When I started, I’d tried for 20+ years – and failed – to figure out how to build a website on my own.)

In fact, you can start with no technical skills at all. Skinny Wallet Fat Wallet teaches you all the “beginner” stuff and I tell you the best place to get more-advanced training when you’re ready and can afford it.

Eventually – if you decide you want to build this type of online business – you’ll need to spend about $500 to cover a year’s worth of basic business expenses. (That includes the more-advanced training I mentioned in the previous paragraph.) But, you’ll learn so much before that, you’ll know – without a doubt – whether or not it’s an investment you want to make.

If you decide it isn’t, no harm done: you won’t have spent any money. But I think – once you see how simple the work is, how incredibly much of it you can get done in advance, and exactly what the $500 gets you – you’ll be excited to make that investment in yourself and your future.

You can have financial security and all the freedoms that brings.

You can be your own boss, work online from home or anywhere you choose, do work you love, and escape poverty forever.

You can build up to a full-time income, or just earn extra cash if that’s what you prefer.

I’m not asking you to believe me.

You’ve been lied to and mislead before. You’re right to be skeptical.

I ask only two things of you:

  1. Read the rest of this page, so you can learn about me and see if I’m someone you can take advice from.
  2. Read the overview of the online business I help people learn to build. I’ve put a link to it at the bottom of this page. [no link yet, but it’s coming soon!]

The overview is very long: it’s a 12-post series. But – if you’ll read it all the way through, you’ll know:

  • what skills and equipment you’d need before you could start: and
  • every task you’d need to do (what kinds of work are involved): and
  • how much work you could get done in advance of spending any money (Actually, you can get as much done in advance as you want and give yourself a gargantuan head start if you want to.)
  • the pros and cons of this online business: and
  • how much of your time it would take each week: and
  • what the ~$500 pays for and why $500 is a steal: and
  • how soon after spending money, you could reasonably expect to start making money.

And, you’ll know, absolutely, whether or not it’s something you’d like to do and can do.

This is me. Sharon @ SkinnyWalletFatWallet.com

Hi, I’m Sharon. I’m a grandma (“Nanna”) and a U.S.-born American living in the U.S.A.

Please pardon the awkward expression on my face: I’ve never been a “natural” when it comes to having my photo taken.

I just thought some of you might like to see the person behind Skinny Wallet Fat Wallet, so there you go, lol.

I’m not glamorous.

As you can see from my photo, I’m not fancy.

I’ll take a day in the garden, the woods, a cave – or on the water – over a day at a posh resort any time.

I’d rather go rock hunting than jewelry shopping.

  • I cuss.
  • I smoke (cigarettes).
  • I’ve been known to have a few beers, talk too much and sing too loudly.
  • And, I find most non-pc jokes funny, even when (and often because) they hit close to home.

I’m not college-educated.

In my 40s, I decided I must go to college. A “proper” education seemed my only chance of ever breaking free – free from the physically demanding jobs I’d worked most of my life.

College did not work out for me. Too much had changed since I’d graduated from high school. I couldn’t keep up.

So, I don’t have any degrees. But, what I lack in sophistication and education, I make up for with grit and tenacity.

Smileys = friends I’ve lost touch with. (Since I couldn’t ask their permission to, I didn’t show their faces).

I used to be fat.

Then, I went through the worst period of poverty I’ve ever known. I won’t bore you with the details (or make you uncomfortable by “over-sharing”), but for 6 months I had so little food, I dropped from a size 16 to a size 4.

(I wasn’t on drugs and I didn’t have an illness. I just had very little food.)

When I tell you I know what it’s like to be poor, I’m not exaggerating. I know the challenges and struggles of being poor. And, I know the barriers to overcoming poverty.

Did you notice the word “fat” in the section above?

I used it because it describes what I was – fat. I wasn’t “big and beautiful”, or “plump”, or “fluffy”, or “a little overweight”. I was FAT.

I don’t need “cutesy” phrases to protect me from mean old facts. Here’s what I believe…

How to escape a tough life

If you believe that too, I can help you.

I am what I am…

… and don’t pretend to be otherwise. I’m not “cultured” or sexy or brilliant. I don’t like that, and I’m not proud of my shortcomings, but it’s the truth so I accept it.

If you can bear to take advice from such an unrefined person, I’ll show you how to improve your circumstances – drastically and permanently.

  • If you’re poor, I’ll show you how to pull yourself out of poverty and stay out of poverty for the rest of your life.
  • If you’re financially comfy, but would like more comfort and security, I’ll show you how to achieve it.
  • If you have plenty of money, but want to have your own business, I can help with that too.

It doesn’t matter what your financial situation is right now: if you let me, I will show you how to transform your wallet and your life!

I’ll get the link to the 12-part overview posted here as soon as I can. In the mean time, why not leave me a comment? I’d love to hear from you! (Without some interaction to liven things up, working on a website can get pretty lonely, lol.)
